Fundraising Bungee Jump

Following the successful three-day ‘Bag Packing’ charity event at Morrison’s Supermarket during April, Councillor Paul James, a member of Mid and West Wales Fire Authority, is doing a charity three-in-a-row bungee jump to raise further money for CCTV cameras for the Llanbadarn Fawr path in Aberystwyth.

Councillor James, who is also a Member of Ceredigion County Council, will be doing the three consecutive bungee jumps on 28 August 2011 at Windsor Bray, Windsor. The Councillor will be jumping off the highest bungee platform in the UK, which measures in at a massive 100 metres in height.

The funds will go to installing cameras along the Aberystywth cycle and footpath following a number of knife attacks along the route between September and November last year. Fire crews have also attended grass and undergrowth fires near the path.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has already worked closely  with Dyfed Powys Police, Ceredigion County Council, Aberystwyth Town Council, Llanbadarn Fawr Community Council, Ceredigion Community First, Morrison’s Supermarket and Crisp and Clear CCTV Solutions to raise funds for the CCTV scheme. During a succesful three-day sponsored ‘bag pack’ at Morrison’s  Supermarket in Aberystwyth, fundraisers raised a phenomenal £4,922.47 with the help of groups from within the local community.

Any support through sponsorship would be greatly appreciated. Fire Service personnel and an Officer from Ceredigion County Council will be joining Councillor James for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
