Bryn Jones – Co-ordinator

Bryn Jones - Communities First Co-ordinator

Bryn joined Communities First in 2009. His work as Co-ordinator involves managing the team between both offices in Penparcau and Aberystwyth, in addition to liaising with community and statutory organisations on accessing funding, projects and activities.

Feedback to date shows us that we are making a real difference in our Communities First area through the Core projects and the Youth work activities.  

Bryn says “Communities First is about developing individuals, organisations and communities to maximise their full potential and our role is all about inspiring people to develop projects that create opportunities for positive change”.


Mari Jefferis – Youth outreach worker

Mari Jefferis - Youth Worker

Mari’s work involves linking with local organisations that work with children and young people to provide opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable.

One aim of the projects is to help the young people to be comfortable in using the local services and facilities, such as the Arts Centre, local leisure facilities and the Museum.

Mari says “The young people are encouraged to respect each other and enjoy the benefits that their surroundings offer.”


Brenda Haines – Community Development officer


Brenda job shares with Geoff on community developement in order to create opportunities for enhancing the Communities First area. Her focus is on Health and well-being, Community Safety and the Environment. 

Brenda says “I feel my work is all about building a stronger sense of  community through intergenerational activities, events and projects”.


Geoff Davies – Community Development officer

Geoff Davies - Community Development officer

Geoff job shares with Brenda. His focus is on Community Learning, Training and working with other organisations in the area to create opportunities for positive change e.g. linking with Aberystwyth University, Training providers, Statutory and Voluntary organisations.

Geoff says “Working in partnership helps to create a strong, vibrant, united community that enables effective delivery of activities and initiatives in the area.”


Marilyn Thomas – Administrator

Marilyn Thomas - administrator

Marilyn works at the Baker Street office providing adminstration support to the Communities First team.


Jessica Spring – Administrator

Jessica job shares with Marilyn. As well as Administrative duties, Jessica also manages the Communities First Website, and will be producing the Communities First Newsletter.

Jessica says “I’m looking forward to working with the Communities First Team, and  working within the community I have lived in for the past fifteen years.”
